Senior Software Engineer

Location: Remote

Engagement Type: Contractor (~15 hours/week)

Compensation: $100–$150/hour

About the Opportunity

This opportunity is for experienced Software Engineers interested in contributing to advanced AI research and evaluation projects. The role involves applying deep software engineering expertise to help improve the reasoning, problem-solving, and tool-usage capabilities of next-generation AI systems.

You will create Reinforcement Learning (RL) environments that evaluate AI models on real-world software engineering tasks such as bug fixing, feature implementation, code refactoring, and performance optimization. These environments will leverage Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools and require the creation of reproducible tasks, deterministic verification methods, and high-quality reference solutions.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in one or more of the following languages:
    • Python
    • Java
    • Rust
    • C++
    • Go
    • TypeScript
  • Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software performance optimization.
  • Experience debugging complex software issues and delivering maintainable solutions.
  • Strong background in feature development, codebase refactoring, and software architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in remote environments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
