CraFexT is an AI-powered technology platform focused on improving how individuals develop their careers and how organisations identify and engage with talent. The platform combines artificial intelligence, skills intelligence, career technology and employer-focused tools to provide more personalised and data-driven career and workforce solutions.
CraFexT is developing its technology in-house, with a focus on practical applications of AI, including large language models, intelligent recommendations, skills analysis and automated career and recruitment workflows.
As an early-stage technology company, CraFexT offers the opportunity to work directly on the development of core product capabilities and contribute to important technical and architectural decisions as the platform evolves.
Role Description
CraFexT is looking for a Senior AI/ML Engineer to help design, develop and integrate AI capabilities across its platform.
You will work closely with the product and engineering team to develop production-ready AI features using Python, machine learning, large language models (LLMs), NLP and cloud technologies.
The role will involve developing AI-powered functionality such as intelligent skills analysis, career and job recommendations, candidate-employer matching, automated insights and other AI-driven features within the CraFexT platform.
You will be involved throughout the AI development lifecycle, from researching and evaluating suitable models and approaches through to implementation, testing, deployment and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI/ML features for the CraFexT platform using Python.
- Develop and integrate LLM-based functionality for career, skills and workforce applications.
- Work with NLP and machine learning techniques to analyse and extract insights from unstructured and structured data.
- Develop intelligent recommendation, matching and classification systems.
- Evaluate different AI/ML models, APIs and approaches to determine the most appropriate solution for product requirements.
- Integrate AI models and third-party AI services into production applications through APIs.
- Build and maintain reliable AI/ML pipelines and supporting services.
- Deploy and operate AI/ML components using AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Implement testing, evaluation and monitoring processes to assess AI performance, reliability and output quality.
- Optimise AI systems for performance, scalability, cost and response time.
- Work closely with software engineers and product stakeholders to translate product requirements into practical AI solutions.
- Contribute to the technical architecture and future development of CraFexT's AI capabilities.
- Research emerging developments in LLMs, generative AI and machine learning and assess their potential application to the platform.
- Document AI systems, model decisions, technical approaches and implementation processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 5–10 years of professional experience in AI/ML engineering, machine learning engineering, applied AI or a closely related field.
- Strong professional experience with Python.
- Practical experience developing and deploying machine learning or AI systems.
- Hands-on experience working with LLMs and Generative AI.
- Experience with NLP and/or language-based AI applications.
- Experience integrating AI/ML models through APIs and building production AI functionality.
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
- Strong understanding of machine learning concepts, model evaluation and experimentation.
- Experience with at least one ML framework such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn.
- Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in an early-stage product environment and take ownership of AI/ML components.

Desirable Experience
- Experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering.
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings or vector databases.
- Experience developing recommendation or matching systems.
- Experience with NLP, text classification, information extraction or semantic search.
- Experience deploying AI applications using AWS services.
- Experience with AI evaluation, monitoring and optimisation.
- Experience working on SaaS, recruitment technology, HR technology, career technology or similar platforms.
Compensation
Salary: £55,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience and suitability for the role.
