Penguin Recruitment are currently working on behalf of a leading multidisciplinary environmental and engineering consultancy to appoint an experienced Senior Air Quality Consultant to join their London team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious air quality professional who is looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the growth and development of an expanding environmental consultancy.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the air quality offering develops, with the long-term potential to lead and build a dedicated team.
The business has strong senior-level and board support for expanding its environmental capabilities, providing the successful candidate with the platform and backing to help shape the future direction of the service.
Alongside core air quality consultancy, there will also be opportunities to diversify into complementary technical areas, including:
- Odour assessment and consultancy
- Industrial permitting and regulatory compliance
- Indoor air quality
- Wider environmental and sustainability services

The Role
As a Senior Air Quality Consultant, you will work across a diverse portfolio of development, planning and infrastructure projects, providing specialist technical advice to clients and project teams.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Preparing and reviewing Air Quality Assessments for planning applications.
- Undertaking construction dust risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
- Delivering Air Quality Neutral assessments.
- Supporting odour assessments, monitoring and technical investigations.
- Providing air quality input into EIA and major development projects.
- Interpreting monitoring and modelling data and producing high-quality technical reports.
- Liaising with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Managing projects, programmes and client relationships.
- Supporting and mentoring junior consultants.
- Contributing to business development and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Playing an active role in developing the company's wider environmental offering.

About You
We are looking for an experienced air quality professional who is ready for greater responsibility and the opportunity to influence the direction of a growing service.
Ideally, You Will Have
- Several years experience within air quality consultancy or a related environmental discipline.
- Strong knowledge of UK air quality legislation, policy and guidance.
- Proven experience delivering air quality assessments for planning applications.
- Experience with construction dust assessments and mitigation.
- Strong technical report-writing and communication skills.
- Experience managing projects and liaising directly with clients.
- A relevant degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Air Quality or a related discipline.
- Experience with relevant air quality modelling and assessment software.
- IAQM membership, or a willingness to work towards membership, would be advantageous.
Most importantly, you will be someone who is interested in building something for the future - whether that means developing your own technical expertise, mentoring others, establishing a team or helping to introduce new environmental services to the business.
