Senior Analyst / Consultant – Asset Management Strategy & Data

c.£85,000 + 20–40% bonus | London (Hybrid)

If you understand how Asset Managers actually operate — and you're just as comfortable building the answer in a spreadsheet as you are talking a client through it — this is worth a proper look.

A specialist advisory business, working with some of the world's largest Asset & Wealth Managers, is hiring a Senior Analyst/Consultant to work directly alongside a senior leader on live client engagements. This isn't a role where deep industry knowledge or strong analytical skills will do on their own — it genuinely needs both.

What this role actually needs

Be honest with yourself before applying: this is not a fit for someone who has AM exposure but hasn't built their own analysis, or someone who's strong in Excel but has never worked inside — or closely with — an Asset Manager. Both halves matter equally.

  • You know the industry from the inside. Whether that's from consulting into Asset Managers, or from sitting inside one in a strategy, product or operating-model role, you understand how they're structured, how they make money, and what actually keeps their leadership up at night.
  • You can genuinely do the analysis, not just commission it. You're hands-on with Excel — building models, structuring messy data, checking your own numbers — and comfortable drawing a clear conclusion from a dataset rather than just presenting it.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll be doing

  • Working closely with a senior leader as their delivery partner on Asset Management benchmarking and strategy engagements — productivity, market sizing, fee/pricing analysis and more.
  • Building and interrogating the datasets and models that underpin client recommendations — this is real, hands-on analytical work, not oversight of someone else's.
  • Getting in front of clients to gather information, test hypotheses and present findings with confidence.
  • Spotting opportunities as they come up in client conversations and feeding them back — there's no formal BD target, but a commercial instinct matters.
  • Managing multiple workstreams at once without quality slipping.

What you'll bring

  • Direct exposure to the Asset Management sector — via consulting or an in-house strategy/product/operating-model function. This is non-negotiable; there isn't time to teach AM fundamentals from scratch.
  • Strong, demonstrable Excel and analytical skills — comfortable building a model, manipulating a dataset, and drawing your own conclusions from it. SQL or Power BI is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Confidence operating directly with clients, not just behind the scenes.
  • A self-starter mentality and genuine curiosity about the industry, not just the deliverable in front of you.

Why this role

  • Real ownership from day one — working alongside one senior leader, not buried in a large team structure.
  • Direct client exposure, including to senior stakeholders at some of the biggest names in the industry.
  • A platform, not a ceiling — this practice is scaling, and early hires grow with it.
