About the Role
We are looking for a highly capable Senior Analyst with strong Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform development experience to join a Finance Development team in Nottingham.
This is a hands-on technical role. You will be expected to design, code and build solutions within Power BI, applying strong analytical and logical thinking to data structures, reporting requirements and Finance processes.
A key part of the role will also be acting as a Power BI subject matter expert, helping to train, coach and upskill the wider team. You will be someone who can take complex requirements, understand the underlying Finance processes and data, and turn them into robust, user-friendly solutions.
Alongside Power BI development, you will work across Power Apps and Power Automate, supporting automation and digital transformation across Finance. You will also contribute to a specific project to develop an App for managing investment workflows across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Power BI Development: Build, develop and maintain sophisticated Power BI reports, dashboards and data models.
- Hands-on Coding: Write DAX and develop within Power BI, applying logic to data structures and business requirements.
- Finance Analytics: Understand Finance development, reporting requirements and processes, translating these into effective Power BI solutions.
- Data Modelling: Design and optimise data models and structures to ensure reporting solutions are scalable, accurate and maintainable.
- Power Platform Development: Develop solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and related Microsoft technologies.
- Solution Design: Design secure, scalable and supportable applications, workflows and reporting solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with Finance and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Training & Upskilling: Act as a Power BI expert within the team, coaching and mentoring colleagues and delivering training to increase internal capability.
- Best Practice: Establish and promote Power BI and Power Platform development standards, governance and best practices.
- Automation: Identify opportunities to automate manual Finance processes and improve efficiency.
- Technical Support: Troubleshoot, improve and optimise existing Power BI reports, applications and automated workflows.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve data, reporting and digital processes across Finance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
