The Performance & Insight team exists to provide greater understanding of our operational performance, improve the accuracy and accessibility of data, and adapt quickly to our changing operational and technical environment. We handle complex and challenging issues and projects, embed a culture of continuous improvement, and enable the business’ strategic transformation.

  • Through great Data Governance - we make it easier to find and understand our performance data by implementing great data governance ensuring that data is managed systematically so it can be used efficiently, securely, and is accessible to those who need it.
  • Easier to understand performance data - we create simple to understand MI against a set of visual standards, we work with each part of our business to educate our teams on how to spend the least amount of time finding the data vs investing their time in making the right decisions based on what the data tell us
  • Understanding the work - we have a complex business and we architect MI to bring to light how we perform end-to-end showing what are the key drivers of work and where bottlenecks exist in the system.
  • Innovation and collaboration - as well as making sure we create the best MI today we are looking forward to tomorrow to look at new ways to automate our reporting and embed AI as a way to help our stakeholders identify where their focus should be

This role in a nutshell:

An exciting opportunity in this new role you’ll be working with a team of experienced analysts to create engaging MI that tells the story of our business. You will work closely in a team led by a Principal Analysts to partner with each of the functions to shape their domains and bring thought leadership on how to design MI for their function with an eye on reducing the time it takes for teams to find the right information and maximise their decision-making capability.

  • Opportunity to drive new methodologies in MI design and visualisation to deliver easier to understand, fit for purpose MI. Engaging with different functions within Operations to build “playbooks for performance” so that everyone understand how and where to measure their performance.
  • Your key outcomes will be:
    • Experts in data we work with you to create the right design for performance and reporting. Ensuring that the things we need to see of our performance are working and connected
    • Build in automation from trusted data sources using our data governance standards
    • Choose the right platforms for the audiences who need to consume the data
    • Ensure data is available, scalable and accurate through great data governance
    • Partner with Product to ensure data is ready when new functionality is created across our platforms
    • We automate the monitoring of connections and fix when they break and know who to go to when things go wrong
    • Take your requirements and build new reusable views of performance tailored to the different levels within your organisation
    • Build processes that run regularly and require aggregation of multiple data points, to generate reports, dashboards, and visualisations that provide insights into past and current trends
    • Deliver Regulatory reporting that is accurate, automated and meets requirements, working in partnership with our central Regs team to assure quality
    • Extracts insights and builds narrative with limited support from others. Demonstrated ability conveying information that is adapted to the audience. Comfortable presenting work in front of an audience in an engaging way. Can review other's work and provide relevant feedback to more junior members
    • Lead collaborative sessions such as meetings and workshops. Communicates clearly and listens to others.
    • Reviews priorities to ensure we are maximising the impact of the team's work on business goals
    • Identifies opportunities to improve the customer experience through the use of data and delivers customer focused outcomes where possible
    • Aware of the company's strategy on a commercial level and how their team's strategy (and their own work) is a part of that. Challenges their own priorities when they aren't aligned to the team's strategy. Contributes to their team's strategy and vision.

You’ll be a successful Senior Analyst here at OVO if you…

  • Are comfortable in the world of telling the story of performance at a senior leadership level - effectively constructing narratives based on data analysis to effectively communicate insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Passionate about creating new insight through MI - to uncover new insights and to enhance the analytical capabilities of the organisation by providing training and support to staff on data analysis and interpretation.
  • Love solving complex data problems and making a difference through collaboration. Bringing the right skills together to perform analytical deep dives on business issues to identify drivers and trends, extract insight from data and clearly explain their meaning. Applying the appropriate tools and methods to reach the best outcome and deliver the highest value impact for our customers and business.
  • Are keen to develop your own skills and ways of working. We want to help enhance your skills whilst working here, and you’ll have time to do this. We also run community engagement events, mentoring/coaching and there are ample opportunities for peer to peer and self led learning based around our career framework
  • Have mastery of the key technical skills - Fluent with more advanced SQL features including analytic/window functions, CTEs, subqueries.. Has a good understanding of performance/processing concepts including normalisation, indexing, transactions, locking and partitioning. Knows different error handling techniques, including dealing with complexity issues. Able to build a narrative through the use of multiple visualisations that clearly present the important information and outcomes.
