About the Role

The EMEA Distribution Research team is part of the wider EMEA Distribution Marketing & Research organisation. The role works across Feature Films, Scripted and Unscripted TV shows.
This position plays an important role in providing strategic analysis to Sony’s businesses in the EMEA region and highlights the growing importance of data-driven-insight within the organisation. Based in London, the position will work across multiple markets and projects across all aspects of the team's focus areas. There will be a specific focus on Consumer Insight, producing industry landscape and audience research in support of Sony’s Business Development, Direct-to-Consumer channels and Home Entertainment businesses across the EMEA region.
The role will be focused on projects involving: consumer behaviour, landscape trends, linear and digital direct-to-consumer brands, transactional and subscription models and large content licensing agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct-to-Consumer channels: Act as the key point person in Research on D2C channels. (e.g. YouTube, Amazon Channels, FAST, Sony Pictures Core, etc.) Understand the performance metrics, input to new analytics and share best practices around the region, collaborating with local Research leads.
- Collaborate heavily with the Business Development team, ensuring they have visibility of key market trend data and forecasts that can underpin new business modelling, planning and investigation.
- Home Entertainment: Connect to the regional Home Entertainment team and input into the Insight-led-selling agenda.
- Work independently with a great deal of autonomy, while collaborating with Research team-mates in other locations to enhance the flow of industry themes and insights between all Research colleagues.
- Thoroughly understand third-party datasets, custom primary techniques, and focus on utilising the toolkit for business impact.
- Maximise the value of research through impactful communication with colleagues, key client and industry-wide initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with internal business partners and stakeholders, third-party suppliers and industry peers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
