CY Partners are currently working with an innovative fine chemicals organisation based in Cambridge, who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join their growing analytical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical chemist looking to take the next step in their career within a technically challenging, research-driven environment. You will play a key role in supporting the development, characterisation and quality of complex chemical products, working closely with colleagues across chemistry, process development and manufacturing.
The Role
As a Senior Analytical Chemist, you will be responsible for applying a range of analytical techniques to support the development and manufacture of fine chemical products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, validating and applying analytical methods for a range of organic compounds and chemical products.
- Performing routine and non-routine analysis using techniques including HPLC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS and NMR.
- Interpreting analytical data and providing clear scientific conclusions to support project and process decisions.
- Troubleshooting analytical methods and investigating unexpected or out-of-specification results.
- Supporting the development and optimisation of analytical procedures.
- Working closely with synthetic and process chemists to understand and solve analytical challenges.
- Preparing technical reports and maintaining accurate laboratory documentation.
- Supporting the introduction and implementation of new analytical technologies and methodologies.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to more junior members of the analytical team.

About You
We are looking for an experienced analytical chemist with a strong background in organic or small-molecule analysis, ideally gained within the pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, CRO or related industries.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- Significant hands-on analytical chemistry experience within an industrial laboratory.
- Strong practical experience with HPLC and/or GC, alongside additional techniques such as MS and NMR.
- Experience with analytical method development, troubleshooting and data interpretation.
- A good understanding of organic chemistry and the characterisation of small molecules.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to laboratory work.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience of method validation, GMP, stability testing or analytical technology transfer would be advantageous, although not essential.
