I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who You Are
- Deep in BigQuery and dbt; you've built and owned a production warehouse, not just queried one
- Fluent in ad platform and commerce APIs (Meta, Amazon, TikTok, Shopify) and reverse ETL patterns (Hightouch, Census, or hand-rolled)
- You understand marketing data specifically: attribution, conversion events,
- You care about correctness the way others care about features; a silently wrong number offends you
- Senior mindset, junior readiness, high initiative; comfortable being the sole owner of the data layer
- Pragmatic: you know when to model properly and when to ship the query today

Why This Role Is Special
- Rare first-party data depth for a brand this size, and a mandate to unify it
- Your models directly drive marketing decisions and real spend; the feedback loop between your work and revenue is days, not quarters

Who This Role Fits
Builders who think. Thinkers who build. People who know that in modern marketing, the schema is the strategy. If you want your data models to move real money every week, this is one of those roles that genuinely doesn't come around often.
