About Baller League
Small-sided football is the world's biggest game. Baller League is here to define it.
Founded in 2024, Baller League was built by football fanatics who saw an opportunity to create something different: a new pathway for talent, a new stage for the game, and a new home for football culture.
Across the UK and USA, our professional 6v6 leagues unite elite players, creators and fans in a football ecosystem that turns every matchday into a cultural moment. We're not following the playbook. We're writing it. We are building a movement that makes football more accessible, more engaging and more connected than ever before- democratising and defining a new era for the world's game.
The Baller League app is where fans follow every match, build fantasy squads, chase the league table, watch the best moments and buy tickets and kit. Our iOS app is live and built on a modern SwiftUI stack. Now we want to bring the same experience to millions of fans on Android - and we need someone to build it from the ground up.
About the Role
You will be our first Android engineer, responsible for taking the Baller League app from zero to the Play Store and beyond. You will own the architecture, the codebase, the CI pipeline and the release process, working closely with our iOS engineer, backend team, designers and product lead to reach feature parity with iOS quickly and then move faster together. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role. You will make the technical decisions, write most of the code in the first year, and set the standards that future Android hires will follow.
What you will do
- Build the Android app from scratch using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, mirroring the feature set of our iOS app: Home, Matches (fixtures, live scores, results), Fantasy (squad composition, points, leaderboards), Reels, Rules, Search, Buy (tickets and merchandise) and Settings.
- Design a clean, testable architecture (MVVM with a repository/interactor layer, unidirectional data flow, clear module boundaries) that echoes the structure of our iOS codebase so the two teams can share domain thinking, naming and API contracts.
- Integrate our OpenAPI specification to generate a type-safe API client, and work with backend to evolve the contract.
- Establish a reusable design-system module (theming, typography, colours, controls, loading/shimmer states) that keeps screens consistent and lets us ship new features quickly.
- Own the platform plumbing: authentication and social sign-in, push notifications, deep links, remote config, analytics, crash reporting and in-app purchases.
- Integrate our in-house native libraries via JNI, owning its Gradle/ABI packaging, lifecycle and threading on the Kotlin side, and partnering with the library owner on cross-boundary issues.
- Set up CI/CD with automated builds, tests, lint and Play Store deployment, and run our internal-testing and staged-rollout process.
- Keep the app performing well on the full range of Android devices our fans use: startup time, jank-free lists, adaptive layouts for phones, foldables and tablets, and a small download size.
- Collaborate with the iOS engineer on shared problems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Experience integrating REST APIs (ideally from OpenAPI specs), authentication flows, push notifications, deep links and analytics.
