Senior Android Engineer – New Financial Products Team

About Marshmallow

We’re on a mission to make migration easy, growing into one of the largest financial services providers in the world.

Started in 2017, Marshmallow has:

  • Scaled from 3 to 700+ people
  • Achieved unicorn status
  • Raised ~£140M across three funding rounds
  • Turned profitable
  • Insured millions of drivers and lent millions in car loans

Our vision is exponential growth over the next decade, scaling not just existing products, but building entirely new ones. We’re commercially driven, seeking ambitious professionals who refuse to settle for “good enough.” Marshallowers thrive on autonomy, ownership, and leaving standards higher than they found them, with a culture of collective success.

Engineering at Marshmallow

Engineers are crucial to our solutions, working end-to-end on product builds, tackling challenges to ensure fast scaling.

The team operates across:

  • Frontend, Backend, Full Stack
  • iOS & Android
  • Collaborating with designers, data scientists, and product managers within specialised teams like Renewals, Telematics, and Claims.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re hiring a Senior Android Engineer to join the New Financial Products Team as we pioneer Marshmallow’s next era: For 2026, the focus is transforming Marshmallow into a high-engagement financial companion for migrants in the UK, driving multi-product growth, deeper customer understanding, and new revenue streams.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead a team breaking new ground for Marshmallow:
    • Define priorities, adapt to shifting needs, and act before problems arise
    • Own major Android codebase components—becoming the authority on core systems—while increasing the technical standard across the team
    • Partner with leadership to shape the technical roadmap and critical architectural decisions for Marshmallow’s future
  • Engineer with modern best practices in Jetpack Compose, MVVM/MVI, Kotlin Coroutines, and robust CI/CD — leveraging AI tools to streamline development
  • Drive high-impact projects: Break down complex challenges, lead teams, and deliver with ownership
  • Continuously improve engineering processes, tooling, and culture by using data to make measurable gains in quality and speed

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
