Role: Senior Android Engineer

Compensation: £90,000 – £120,000 per year + Bonus & Equity Options
About the Role:
Our client—a premier global online delivery and marketplace platform—is seeking an experienced Senior Android Engineer in London. You will build and scale high-performance, intuitive consumer and courier mobile applications used by millions of people daily, pushing the boundaries of mobile architecture, reactive programming, and fluid user experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, develop, and maintain native Android applications using modern Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Coroutines/Flow.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and Backend Engineers to deliver engaging, world-class mobile features.
- Optimize mobile application performance, startup times, battery consumption, and network efficiency across diverse Android devices.
- Drive mobile architectural standards utilizing Clean Architecture, MVVM/MVI design patterns, and modular project structures.
- Implement robust automated testing suites (unit tests, UI tests with Espresso, screenshot tests) ensuring rock-solid release stability.
- Manage CI/CD build pipelines and Google Play Console release management processes including phased rollouts.
- Mentor mid-level engineers, conduct thorough code reviews, and advocate for modern Android development practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional native Android development experience in consumer-facing mobile applications with high install bases.
- Expert proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android architecture components (Jetpack, Compose, Coroutines, Flow, Hilt/Dagger).
- Proven track record in developing modularized codebases and offline-first mobile applications.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, WebSockets, real-time push notifications, and geolocation services.
- Deep appreciation for material design principles, UI polish, micro-animations, and mobile accessibility standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical industry experience.
- Fluency in English with strong collaborative communication skills.
