Senior Android Engineer – Ambitious Start-Up – London (Hybrid)
The Job
This is a rare one: a Senior Android Engineer role at a well-funded, talent-dense start-up building an AI-first platform with genuine international ambition. You'll work closely with the Principal Engineer to design, build, and scale the Android platform, contributing to architecture decisions and feature development as the company scales into new markets. You'll work within a small, senior technical team that includes direct access to the CTO and Senior Leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Principal Engineer to design and build the Android platform architecture, with an eye on long-term scalability
- Own feature development from concept through to Play Store launch
- Integrate and manage third-party SDKs across the platform, from evaluation through to implementation
- Contribute to performance optimisation as user numbers and real-time data volumes grow
- Help shape engineering standards, mobile best practice, and code quality as the team grows
- Collaborate with the Principal Engineer, CTO, and wider engineering team on technical and product direction
- Support the move from outsourced delivery towards a world-class in-house engineering capability

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Company
This isn't your average pre-seed start-up. Backed by serious investment and led by a founding team with a genuine track record of scaling businesses before, this is a company with the pedigree and the funding to actually make its international ambitions happen — not just talk about them. Right now they're small and sharp: small team in the UK with a growing team in Malta. London is set to become the long-term home for tech and marketing as they scale. Joining at this stage means getting in early on something built to expand across multiple regulated markets — with the resources, leadership experience, and momentum behind it to actually get there fast.

Why This One's Worth a Look

- Real growth trajectory — international expansion across multiple markets is the plan, not the pitch deck fantasy. Get in now and grow with it.
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with a Principal Engineer — sharpen your craft alongside someone who's been there, without losing your own voice on architecture and decisions.
- Liverpool Street base — right in the middle of one of London's best-connected, most vibrant spots for grabbing coffee and lunch
- Fast-paced, no red tape — decisions happen quickly here, and engineers are trusted to make the call rather than wait for sign-off.
