Senior App Analyst - Part-Time Contract
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior App Analyst on a part-time contract basis (1 day per week for a minimum of 3 months) to act as the technical authority across our native mobile app estate (iOS and Android) for a FTSE 250 Financial Services brand and its affiliated Community Interest Company (CIC).
The role will take ownership of app health, instrumentation, and diagnostics — from native plugin code to analytics, crash trends, and in-app messaging. This position is suited to a proven senior practitioner with a strong public technical track record, such as a top 1% Stack Overflow standing, who can operate autonomously with minimal ramp-up.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot native plugins and bridge code for both Android (Kotlin/Java) and iOS (Swift/Objective-C) platforms.
- Build and maintain Cordova or comparable hybrid framework plugins, such as Capacitor, to support in-app messaging and related native functionality.
- Diagnose and resolve platform-specific issues arising from native/web bridge integrations.
- Review and support native build pipelines to ensure plugin changes integrate cleanly with existing CI/CD processes.
- Implement, configure, and maintain the Firebase SDK across both app platforms, ensuring accurate and consistent event tracking.
- Own the GA4 for Firebase implementation, including event schema design, tagging QA, funnel and engagement reporting, and data validation.
- Configure and monitor Crashlytics, triaging crash and non-fatal error reports, identifying root causes, and prioritising fixes with the engineering team.
- Set up and maintain in-app messaging capabilities via Cordova/Capacitor plugins or native SDKs, supporting lifecycle, engagement, and retention campaigns.
- Produce regular app health reports covering crash-free rates, key events, funnel performance, and messaging engagement for both the FTSE 250 brand and the CIC.
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering native app functionality, analytics event firing, and plugin behaviour.
- Support release QA cycles, ensuring analytics, crash reporting, and messaging instrumentation are validated prior to each release.
- Identify gaps in test coverage and recommend practical automation improvements appropriate to a part-time engagement.
- Work within existing Agile/DevOps ceremonies and delivery practices, contributing effectively despite limited weekly capacity.
- Partner with product owners, engineers, and data teams across both organisations to prioritise instrumentation and analytics work.
- Document technical decisions, implementation patterns, and known issues clearly to ensure continuity between weekly sessions and support handover at the end of the contract.
- Advise on data quality, tagging governance, and best practices for mobile analytics across the app estate.
- Where relevant, extend reporting into BigQuery, linking Firebase/GA4 export data to broader data warehouse and BI initiatives. (Optional/desirable)
- Bring domain awareness of Finance apps, including FCA-regulated app considerations, secure authentication patterns, and transaction event tracking, to inform best practices. (Optional/desirable)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
