ROLE SUMMARY:

As the Application Architect you will work with the Solution Architect of World-Check One - Risk Engineering. Risk Engineering and be responsible for the development of critical financial services such as World-Check One, Screening and Due Diligence.

You will be a member of software engineering team who designs software solutions from the ground up, making high-level decisions about each stage of the process and directing a team of engineers to build the final product. You will need to demonstrate significant experience as a software engineer. You will need to have the technical expertise and leadership to encourage and influence technology strategy for the business and partner with the business to bring value through the application of ground-breaking technologies and through innovation within the LSEG ecosystem.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Build Logical, Physical, Implementation and Process Solution Architecture designs where required.
  • Be responsible for cloud infrastructure design and develop detailed architecture design for the application.
  • Through understanding of cloud native architecture and principles.
  • Optimise cost of cloud solutions by identifying waste and automating cloud cost management and autoscaling.
  • Support DevOps team with CICD automation.
  • Support application development teams in negotiating governance, privacy gates, compliance and risk analysis.
  • Ability to lead production issue RCA and resolution.
  • Work with Product Owners and Business Analysts providing them with conceptual ideas of how solutions can be designed, at what cost and high-level timescales.
  • Own, champion and lead all aspects of key quality of service requirements implementation for availability, recovery, reusability, performance, maintainability, security, capacity, and compatibility.
  • Partner with Solution Architects to produce where required:
    • Domain/business logic model design
    • Interoperability design such as API and Messaging
    • Data model design
  • Partner with the Infrastructure team to produce physical architecture designs.
  • Pair design with other Application Architects and Technical leads. Develop their design skills so that they become self-reliant.
  • Produce proof of concepts that could be handed over to the Technical Leads / Dev teams for full-scale development.
  • Contribute to architecture communities of practice and architecture councils, leads the development of architectural standards by leading and influencing architecture teams.
  • Identifies where technology and partnerships can cause a ground-breaking shift in business and works with key business partners to bring it to realisation.
  • Recognised internally and externally as an authority on sophisticated technical matters.
  • Interprets technical issues for non-technical audiences and vice versa – provides leadership to establish and articulate the vision, strategy and direction of solution architecture based upon business and technical requirements.
  • Develops and delivers formal and informal technical training, presentations, and white papers to both internal and external audiences.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Experience in architecting highly scalable and efficient distributed systems, using different open source tools.
  • A consistent track record of delivering Application and Cloud Solution Architectures.
  • Extensive experience selecting and implementing Cloud services, primarily AWS.
  • Detailed understanding of Messaging Services for modern application architecture.
  • In-depth experience using cloud patterns, multi-tenancy, sharding, priority queue, throttling, sidecar and CAP theorem.
  • Understanding of polyglot persistence and hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL solutions.
  • Experience with MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Elasticsearch and other relational databases.
  • In-depth understanding of HTTP and REST API design, management, and consumption.
  • Very strong Java skills and experienced with Python, Spring Boot, Node js and JavaScript.
  • Understanding of use of AI as a tool and within applications.
  • Experience implementing Enterprise Integration Patterns.
  • Experience with authentication methods such as SAML, OIDC or Auth2.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing solutions for large systems that are scalable, extensible, performant, secure and highly available.
  • Experienced in presenting with senior leadership and proven communication skills to work across technical and business teams.
  • Experienced in working with externally sourced engineers and architects.
  • Awareness of GDPR and ISO standards.

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Understanding of the business domain, including: risk management; customer and third-party risk; the regulatory marketplace.
  • Understanding of the financial markets, banking and news.
