About The Role
Leonardo UK is seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Engineer to join its Cyber & Security Solutions Division. This pivotal role involves supporting, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise applications that underpin critical defense, government, and public sector services. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring these platforms are secure, scalable, and aligned with operational requirements. Working within a collaborative, agile environment, you will contribute to technical delivery, continuous improvement initiatives, and the development of secure, high-availability systems. This role offers a hybrid working model, combining remote work with on-site collaboration at our Bristol office, facilitating close engagement with team members and stakeholders. The position provides an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical communication platforms, supporting national security and public safety operations.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in supporting and configuring enterprise or mission-critical applications, with experience in telecoms, control rooms, or public safety communications environments. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with industry certifications such as ITIL, AWS, or Azure. Proven experience in application lifecycle management, secure-by-design principles, and integration patterns is essential. Familiarity with identity management systems like OpenID Connect and OAuth, as well as knowledge of cyber security practices, will be highly advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
Responsibilities
- Support, configure, and enhance the Leonardo MCX suite of applications, ensuring their reliable operation within mission-critical communication environments.
- Deliver engineering tasks within defined work packages, ensuring alignment with user needs, operational communication requirements, security standards, and service-level agreements.
- Contribute to application architecture, configuration, integration, and lifecycle activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across engineering, service management, and product teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and specialists, supporting their professional development and promoting best practices within the team.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, documentation, and knowledge sharing activities.
- Ensure compliance with engineering governance, ITSM processes, and cybersecurity policies to maintain system integrity and security.
