About Us

The Centre of Excellence (CoE) Asset Management Team is TfL’s dedicated IBM Maximo capability, bringing together more than 35 highly skilled Maximo professionals including Solution Architects, Technical Leads, Developers, Business Analysts, Test Engineers, Integration Specialists and Application Support Engineers.

Together, we deliver enterprise-scale project development, continuous improvement and operational support for IBM Maximo across London Underground, London Overground, Surface Transport and the Elizabeth Line, supporting over 5,000 Maximo users across the organisation.

With several major transformation programmes underway and more planned, there’s never been a better time to join the team.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a development role. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across TfL, as part of a close-knit team with significant long-term investment in IBM Maximo and the Maximo Application Suite, to deliver solutions that support the maintenance and management of London’s critical transport assets.

You’ll Have The Opportunity To Work On

  • One of the UK’s largest IBM Maximo estates.
  • Four enterprise IBM Maximo environments supporting multiple transport businesses.
  • A substantial and continually growing backlog of enhancements and new capabilities.
  • Strategic programmes introducing additional TfL services onto the Maximo platform.
  • The migration of TfL’s entire IBM Maximo estate to IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS 9) over the coming years.
  • The implementation and expansion of IBM Maximo Mobile.
  • Future adoption of MAS technologies, including AI-powered capabilities, predictive maintenance, asset performance management and advanced analytics.
  • Enterprise integrations with modern technologies and cloud platforms.
  • Regular Agile releases delivering meaningful improvements to thousands of users.

This roadmap spans many years and includes some of the most significant IBM Maximo programmes in the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design, develop and support enterprise IBM Maximo solutions.
  • Deliver high-quality enhancements through Maximo configuration, automation scripting and Java development.
  • Develop innovative solutions that maximise out-of-the-box functionality while delivering business value.
  • Work collaboratively with Business Analysts, Product Owners and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop and support integrations using the Maximo Integration Framework and REST APIs.
  • Participate in technical design, peer reviews and solution governance.
  • Support production releases and ensure the stability, resilience and performance of critical applications.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to the wider Maximo community within TfL.
  • Help shape the future technical direction of IBM Maximo across the organisation.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative Agile environment and is motivated by solving challenging business problems. Experience with MAS 9, Maximo Mobile, OpenShift, Red Hat technologies or cloud-native platforms would be advantageous, but we equally value a desire to learn and grow.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At TfL, you’ll work on technology that genuinely matters. Every enhancement, integration and improvement you deliver helps keep one of the world’s most iconic transport networks running. In return, you’ll benefit from:

  • A collaborative and supportive team culture that values innovation and knowledge sharing.
  • Opportunities to work with the latest IBM Maximo and MAS technologies.
  • Long-term strategic programmes providing exciting technical challenges for years to come.
  • Continuous professional development and technical learning.
  • The chance to make a real impact on services used by millions of Londoners and visitors every day.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
