Senior Applied AI Engineer — AI Software Factory
📍 London, UK | Hybrid 💰 €100K–€160K
We're building something new inside a Company - which is an AI Software Factory focused on fundamentally changing how enterprise software is built.
This is not a chatbot project.
The first product is an intelligence layer on top of complex legacy databases. From there, the team is developing an engineering model where multiple AI agents can plan, build, test, and review software components in parallel - with rigorous verification that the combined result works.
We're looking for a Senior Applied AI Engineer who wants to own the engineering standard for this new team.
🔥 What you'll do
- Ship the first AI product from architecture through production
- Design agent orchestration and tool-using workflows
- Decide how work is split across agents and how concurrent changes are isolated and merged
- Build evaluation frameworks, regression tests, and drift checks
- Develop orchestration, evaluation, and codebase-analysis components
- Integrate AI workflows into real production codebases and CI/CD
- Solve challenging problems around concurrency, reliability, verification, and scale
- Provide technical direction and architecture guidance without direct reports

🎯 What we're looking for
- 8+ years of production software engineering experience
- Hands-on experience building LLM agents, agentic systems, or tool-using AI systems
- Experience with multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool/function calling, or autonomous systems
- Strong software architecture and systems-engineering skills
- Strong testing and evaluation mindset - including evals, regression testing, benchmarking, or drift monitoring
- STEM degree
- Demonstrated career progression in scope, ownership, or technical leadership
- Experience with Go, React/JavaScript, or Kubernetes is a plus
- Startup, founding-engineer, 0→1, or highly autonomous engineering experience is highly valued
🚫 This role is NOT for
- Prompt engineering only
- Basic ChatGPT/OpenAI API wrappers
- Chatbot-only development
- AI experimentation without production deployment
- Research-only backgrounds without significant software engineering experience
