The Opportunity
Tilbury Douglas Engineering is looking for an experienced Senior Appointed Person (Electrical) to support the safe delivery of our electrical projects across London and the South East.
This is a varied role combining Senior Appointed Person responsibilities with electrical testing, inspection, certification and general installation work. You will work closely with our project teams and National SAP Manager to maintain high standards of electrical safety and ensure compliance with legislation, industry requirements and our Electrical Code of Practice.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Undertaking Senior Appointed Person duties and supporting the safe management of electrical activities across multiple projects.
- Testing, inspecting and certifying electrical installations, ensuring all records and documentation are completed accurately.
- Carrying out monthly compliance inspections across our electrical projects in London and the South East.
- Identifying areas of non-compliance and working with project teams to implement the appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintaining electronic compliance records, attending relevant meetings and completing general electrical installation work when SAP or testing duties are not required.

We’re looking for
- An approved electrician and qualified electrical tester with a current 18th Edition qualification.
- A recognised Inspection and Testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent.
- Practical experience of testing, inspecting and certifying electrical installations.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety procedures, regulations and industry standards, together with good IT and record-management skills.
- A well-organised and confident communicator who can work independently across multiple projects and travel regularly throughout London and the South East.
SMSTS and First Aid qualifications would be beneficial; however, Tilbury Douglas Engineering will arrange these and any additional training required for the right candidate.

What We Can Offer You
- Employment under the JIB Working Rule Agreement
- JIB Technician rate of £26.70 per hour
- Guaranteed minimum working week of 43 hours
- Overtime rates applying after 37.5 hours
- JIB benefits package, including pension and Bupa
- Reimbursement of travel expenses, subject to receipts
- SMSTS, First Aid and any additional role-related training required
