Nottinghamshire County Council is dedicated to serving our community with compassion and care. We strive to empower our residents, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive. Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable adults across Nottinghamshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Appointee and Deputyship Team as a Senior Appointee Officer. In this rewarding leadership role, you will manage and develop a team of Appointee Officers who support some of Nottinghamshire's most vulnerable residents by managing their finances, safeguarding them from financial abuse, and helping them maintain their independence and quality of life.
As Senior Appointee Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring adults who lack the mental capacity to manage their own financial affairs receive the support, protection, and advocacy they need. You will provide leadership, professional oversight, and case direction to your team, supporting them to deliver high-quality services while promoting best practice, continuous improvement, and positive outcomes.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and Inspire: Manage and mentor a team of Appointee Officers, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Safeguard and Support: Ensure vulnerable adults receive the financial management and protection they need.
- Drive Improvement: Promote best practices and continuous service improvement within the team.
- Collaborate and Communicate: Build strong partnerships with other agencies and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
- Monitor and Report: Oversee casework and provide regular updates on team performance and service quality.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
