About the Energy Unit

The Energy Unit provides integrated engineering and project management services globally, specialising in sectors including:

  • Hydropower
  • Nuclear
  • Waste solutions
  • Renewable generation
  • Transmission & distribution networks

We support clients through the entire project lifecycle—from concept and design to construction, operations, and even decommissioning or repowering. By working with trusted partners, we accelerate the global energy transition.


Role Overview: Senior Architect (Nuclear, Civil & Defence)

We seek a creative, detail-oriented Senior Architect with hands-on experience in highly regulated environments to lead our Nuclear, Civil, and Defence division within the Energy Unit. This is a career-defining opportunity to:

  • Shape technology-driven, large-scale projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and guide bids/proposals.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across high-profile nuclear industry clients.

This role offers a chance to grow in design, project management, BIM, and technical detailing, while collaborating with UK-wide specialists and global experts in the Nuclear Energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exercise technical oversight to ensure optimal design solutions.
  • Lead bids and proposals with a commercial and client-focused approach.
  • Coordinate and deliver high-level projects across their lifecycle.
  • Support bid review and improvement activities for tender submissions.
  • Manage technical stakeholders and direct multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Contribute to transferable technical knowledge and project quality culture.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Post-Part 3/Qualified Architect with ARB registration.
  • Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

Experience

  • Extensive post-qualification experience in regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, civil, defence).
  • Proven track record leading large-scale projects—from concept/design through to planning and completion.
  • Exceptional project management and technical expertise, with a focus on design-led solutions.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Ability to dress appropriately and comfortably within the project environment.
  • Familiarity with UK security clearance processes (offers are conditional on obtaining clearance).
