Senior Architect / Senior Architectural Technologist
Location – Bedford
Salary – £50,000 - £60,000
The Opportunity
Our client is a leading UK multidisciplinary practice specialising in the built environment, with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the country.
They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Architect / Senior Architectural Technologist to join their Commercial Architecture team in Bedford.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about design, technical delivery and the built environment, and is looking to take the next step in their career within an established and growing practice.
The Role
The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial architecture, with experience across sectors such as:
- Retail
- Industrial
- Logistics
- Offices
- Education
You will ideally have experience working across all RIBA Work Stages, with a particular emphasis on technical design, detailed construction information, design coordination and following projects through on site.
You will be expected to take responsibility for projects as required, working both independently and as part of a wider project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively interface with clients and their project teams.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, consultants and wider project teams.
- Manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
- Take the lead on projects where required.
- Produce, manage and coordinate architectural drawings and information.
- Coordinate and check information produced by external consultants and ensure its integration into the project design.
- Attend site independently and produce appropriate site records and reports.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the planning system and statutory processes.
- Apply a strong knowledge of Building Regulations to projects.
- Understand and contribute to project budgets.
- Support client relationships and contribute to business development.
- Represent the practice at relevant industry events where required.

About You
The successful candidate will be Part 3 RIBA / ARB Qualified or MCIAT, with a minimum of 8 years' post-qualification practical experience.
You will have:
- A proven track record within commercial architecture.
- Experience delivering complex projects.
- Strong technical design and detailing capabilities.
- Experience producing and coordinating detailed construction packages.
- Experience following projects through to site.
- Strong design skills, supported by a portfolio demonstrating design quality and technical resolution.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Experience running projects and coordinating project teams.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations.
- A good understanding of planning and statutory processes.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

Software & Technical Skills
Essential:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling software.
- Experience and proficiency in writing NBS specifications.
Desirable:
- Revit.
- SketchUp.
- Photoshop.
- Other presentation and visualisation software.
A full UK driving licence is required, with a willingness to travel to project sites when necessary.
