Architectural Technologist/Architect

As a result of GSSArchitecture’s continued success, we are looking to recruit an experienced Architectural Technologist or technically experienced Architect to join a well-established, CIAT award-winning Practice, in our head office in the Midlands.

Location: Kettering

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 38.75 per week, flexibility with start and finish times.

GSSArchitecture, one of the longest-established architectural Practices in the country, is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, confident, well-organised, and committed Architectural Technologist to join our team, and assist in the continued growth and profitability of the Practice of 7 Partners, 65+ staff, and six national offices. The team and practice have been accredited to an Investors in People (IIP) Gold standard, rated as the second-highest scoring architecture practice on the IIP international database. We pride ourselves on our commitment to Sustainability and Health and Wellbeing, both in design and creating a healthy environment within which to work.

Role & Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Producing a wide range of working drawing packages.
  • Contribute to planning applications and other regulatory application procedures.
  • Lead the detailed design process and coordinate design information.
  • Liaise with appropriate authorities (e.g. planning enquiries and building inspectors) when producing documentation for statutory approval.
  • Carry out design-stage risk assessments.
  • Administer contracts and project certifications.
  • Appraise the performance of buildings which are in use and produce maintenance management information.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc Hons, HNC or Equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology.
  • CIAT Membership or equivalent professional body.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • The majority of our projects are delivered in REVIT, therefore knowledge and experience of BIM would be advantageous.
  • Experience of Cobie data is an advantage.
  • Detailing and Building Regulation knowledge is essential.
  • Knowledge of NBS.
  • Experience of working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Must possess an eye for detail and design.
