The Major Projects Team is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and collaborative professional with strong design and technical abilities to join our busy and growing department. This key role includes leading and managing construction projects and providing essential support to the Principal Architectural Technologist and Major Projects Team Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of Architectural Design and Construction Management work. The team is currently delivering a range of exciting schemes, including new schools, childcare facilities, and other strategic projects across the authority. With a strong pipeline of upcoming work, the department is committed to providing high quality, sustainable assets for the future.

We are looking for a team player who is also confident working independently when required. You will bring exceptional design, technical, and presentation skills, and be capable of leading design teams on large scale, multi million pound projects. A passion for good design is essential, along with a strong knowledge of the CDM Regulations and proven experience as a Principal Designer. Experience in carbon reduction methodologies is vital, with an emphasis on achieving Net Zero Carbon standards for new assets. A solid understanding with demonstrable experience of delivering projects under JCT traditional building contracts is also required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
