Exciting Opportunity in Aseptic Services
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Aseptic Services team as a Pharmacy or Science Manufacturing Technician. The Christie NHS Trust’s Aseptic Services Unit is a world leader in phase one clinical trial material production, supporting hundreds of Clinical Trials, Early Access Medicines, Free of Charge products and Compassionate Use schemes.
About the Role
We seek a motivated individual with strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills. You will join a dynamic team producing injectable medicines for cancer patients, taking part in and supervising aseptic production in cleanrooms with five negative-pressure isolators. You will also support Highly Specialist Technicians with daily operations, staff management, stock control and Quality Assurance.
Key Responsibilities
This role will involve:
- Supervision and management of technical staff, including HR duties (e.g. PDRs)
- Organising the safe and efficient production of aseptically prepared products
- Delivering full training to production staff taking part in GMP activities, ensuring proficient and safe working within an Aseptic Services Unit
- Supporting co-ordination of operator validations and competency checks
- Co-ordinating workflow and workforce, ensuring a safe, efficient and effective service to the trust and patients
- Revision of Standard Operating Procedures and implementation of new or revised procedures
- Managing cost effective use of consumables and sanitisation products used within the aseptic facility
- Taking part in internal and external audits
- Supporting investigations related to events in production, carrying out Quality Assurance tasks

Required Qualifications
For this role you will be required to have either:
- NVQ3 / BTEC in Pharmacy Services and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician
Or
- Aseptic Pharmaceutical Science Manufacturing Technician level 3 and registration with the Science Council as a Science Technician
We welcome applications from pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians or Science Manufacturing Technicians approaching qualification, as well as newly registered technicians. This is a Band 4-5 progression post, continuing until all required competencies and qualifications are achieved.

The Pharmacy department has a developed career pathway for technical staff wishing to progress as far as achievable. Helping support all qualifications and in-house training that allow for this progression should you wish to further your career within the pharmacy aseptic team.
