Are you an experienced languages specialist with a passion for high-quality assessment and international education?
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on learners around the world by helping to shape and deliver qualifications that support students to unlock their potential and succeed. As part of our Languages team, you will work with colleagues, assessment specialists and international partners to develop and maintain trusted assessments used by learners and teachers globally.
About The Role
As Senior Assessment Manager, Languages, you will be a subject specialist responsible for quality-assuring and signing off assessments that students sit at the end of their programmes of study. You will manage a portfolio of language syllabuses, ensuring the successful development and delivery of high-quality assessment materials.
We are home to many former teachers and education professionals who have successfully transitioned into assessment management. This role offers an opportunity to use your subject expertise and educational experience in a different way, helping to shape high-quality qualifications that support learners around the world while continuing to make a meaningful impact on education.
As part of the University of Cambridge, we work to exceptionally high standards. Every question paper must be completely accurate, every assessment must measure exactly what it is intended to assess, and every grade threshold must provide a reliable indication of a learner's achievement for employers and universities around the world. In this role, you will ensure assessments remain comparable across exam series and over time, while maintaining fairness for candidates from different countries and educational contexts. You will play a key role in shaping the future of Cambridge International Languages qualifications for learners and teachers around the world.
Working with a broad range of stakeholders, you will manage a varied portfolio of responsibilities. This includes recruiting and leading Assessment Specialists, including Setters, Revisers, Vetters and Assistant Examiners, overseeing their allocation of work, performance and succession planning. You will also work closely with ministry customers and international partners to develop and revise syllabuses, helping to ensure our qualifications continue to meet the needs of learners globally.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
