Are you an experienced governance professional looking for a high-impact role at the heart of a complex, regulated business?
A leading global financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Assistant Company Secretary to join its Corporate Governance Office. This is an outstanding opportunity to play a critical role in supporting board and committee governance, influencing senior stakeholders and driving governance excellence across a major financial services group.
As a trusted adviser, you will provide expert corporate governance support, ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements and help maintain the highest standards of governance across the organisation.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Corporate Governance leadership team, you will work closely with executive and non-executive directors, senior management and governance stakeholders across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert corporate governance advice across the organisation.
- Acting as the key liaison between governance functions and business stakeholders.
- Advising on governance best practice, including UK Corporate Governance Code requirements, Listing Rules, DTRs and MAR.
- Supporting the delivery of annual reports and financial statements programmes.
- Deputising for the Head of Corporate and Internal Governance when required.
- Serving as Secretary and trusted adviser to Board and Board-level Committees.
- Building effective relationships with Executive and Non-Executive Directors.
- Leading and developing junior governance professionals.
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and ensuring governance policies remain up to date.
- Leading governance aspects of strategic projects, business initiatives and regulatory change programmes.
- Driving continuous improvement in governance processes, systems and controls.

What We're Looking For
- Strong practical knowledge of corporate governance within a listed or regulated environment.
- Deep understanding of the Companies Act 2006, UK Corporate Governance Code, PRA/FCA governance requirements and Listing Rules.
- Experienced in a Company Secretarial or Governance role.
- Membership of the Chartered Governance Institute (Affiliate, Associate or Fellow) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience supporting Boards and Board Committees in a complex organisation.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and organisational capability.
- Experience managing competing priorities and working to demanding deadlines.
- Previous experience within financial services or another heavily regulated industry.
- Line management and team development experience.
- A collaborative, professional and proactive approach.

- Hybrid working model: 3 days per week in our London office
- Competitive base salary up to £120,000, depending on experience
