Job Description
Candidates must have current role in the community or if not in current role minimum 2 years experience of adult community mental health experience. Due to nature of the role this will be a face to face interview only and we can make adaptations for face to face interviewing if required.

About the Role
An opportunity has arisen within MK Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway for x2 fixed term Senior Assistant Psychologists to join this busy and well-established pathway. The position will suit an individual who is self-motivated, an excellent communicator and data competent, with a passion to support services for adults with complex mental health presentations.
Job Responsibilities
You will be a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team and work alongside our qualified and experienced Psychologists and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to assist with a variety of service improvement and psychoeducational groups.
Applicants will be expected to hold a BPS approved degree in Psychology (upper second or first class) and have current experience of working within a secondary care mental health community setting as a paid Assistant Psychologist in a mental health setting. It will be essential to have experience of working with people with complex mental health presentations and working in therapeutic groups in secondary care mental health setting. You will need to be highly motivated, a quick learner and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
To support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users within Milton Keynes Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway. The primary focus will be to work in conjunction with Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) members to support service users and qualified health professionals in the assessment and delivery of evidenced based psychological interventions, including Hub Duty and will require access to a car with appropriate business insurance. This work will be completed under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures.

The post holder will also assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of outcome measures and statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, and project work.
Person Specification
Essential
- Good honours degree in psychology (2:1 or above)
- Eligibility for graduate membership of the BPS
- Work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities in a community mental health setting
- Experience of delivering protocol-driven psychological interventions in a community mental health setting.
- Excellent IT skills including good working knowledge of SPSS, Word.
- High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
- Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues.
- An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health issues or those requiring the intervention of Psychosocial Services
- An understanding of psychology applied to health care.
- Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals.

Desirable
- Post Graduate studies in relevant applied psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis (MSC/MA Diploma etc)
- High standard of report writing.
- Experience using computers for databases or data-analysis
