Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

To support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users within Milton Keynes Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway. The primary focus will be to work in conjunction with Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) members to support service users and qualified health professionals in the assessment and delivery of evidenced based psychological interventions, including Hub Duty and will require access to a car with appropriate business insurance. This work will be completed under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

The post holder will also assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of outcome measures and statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, and project work.

Training And Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Good honours degree in psychology (2:1 or above)
• Eligibility for graduate membership of the BPS

Desirable criteria

• Post Graduate studies in relevant applied psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis (MSC/MA Diploma etc)

Experience

Essential criteria

• Work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities in a community mental health setting
• Experience of delivering protocol- driven psychological interventions in a community mental health setting.
• Excellent IT skills including good working knowledge of SPSS, Word.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of paid work in direct care provision

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

• High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
• Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues.
• An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
• An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health issues or those requiring the intervention of Psychosocial Services
• An understanding of psychology applied to health care.
• Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals.

Desirable criteria

• High standard of report writing.
• Experience using computers for databases or data-analysis
