About the business unit  The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.   

Overview of the role We are seeking a Senior Associate – Building Services Electrical Engineer to lead, grow and inspire our multidisciplinary Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) team. 

This role is ideally based in our London office, with collaboration across our regional teams in Croydon, Brighton and Bristol, alongside opportunities to contribute to national and international projects.

You will play a key role in both winning and delivering major projects across diverse sectors, including:

Commercial Aviation Rail Transport Buildings Judicial Residential developments Sports & Recreation Data centres  Healthcare Defence and civic infrastructure Technical Advisory

Mott MacDonald has a strong track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, and you will contribute to this legacy by leading high-profile, complex schemes and driving technical excellence.

Candidates will be expected to:

Lead and deliver major MEP projects from concept through to detailed design Act as Project Principal while remaining hands-on in technical delivery Manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with architects and civil engineers Drive project performance, including financial outcomes and profitability Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high-quality service delivery Contribute to business development, including work-winning and bid leadership Champion innovation, sustainability, and best practice in engineering design

Candidate specification Essential:

Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Building Services Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IET, CIBSE, or equivalent professional body Proven experience delivering major projects (typically £100m+ capital value) within the built environment with sustainable solutions Extensive MEP design experience across concept and detailed design stages Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with other disciplines Strong track record in project delivery, including commercial and programme management Ability to inspire teams and drive technical excellence while remaining hands-on Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations Up to date knowledge of current building regulations, legislation and standards applicable in building and infrastructure design

Desirable:
