Senior Associate - Corporate & Commercial
Cambridge - Hybrid Working.
At Greenwoods Legal Services, we do things differently. We believe legal advice should be clear, practical and genuinely useful, so our Corporate & Commercial team works as an extension of our clients' businesses to deliver commercially focused solutions.
We act for a diverse client base from PLCs and large private organisations to owner-managed businesses and high-growth start-ups across sectors including technology, media, FMCG, food, education, charities and manufacturing. Supporting clients at every stage of their journey, we provide both strategic transactional advice and day-to-day commercial support.

About the role
We are looking for an Senior Associate to join our growing Corporate & Commercial team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of high-quality matters, build strong client relationships and play a key role in the continued growth of the team.

Key responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Corporate & Commercial work
- Lead and support on corporate transactions including mergers & acquisitions, reorganisations, demergers and MBOs.
- Advise on a wide range of commercial contracts and business matters.
- Provide guidance on broader commercial issues including regulatory and compliance matters.
- Manage your own caseload while supporting senior colleagues on complex matters.
- Deliver clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and referrers.
- Act as a trusted advisor with a deep understanding of client businesses.
Business development
- Contribute to networking, profile-raising and relationship-building activities.
- Play an active role in growing the team and identifying new opportunities.
Team contribution
- Work collaboratively across teams and offices.
- Support and mentor junior colleagues (Senior Associate level).
- Contribute to a positive, collegiate and high-performing team culture.
Experience and qualities
This role requires a qualified Corporate & Commercial solicitor with 6+ years PQE (Senior Associate), gained within a reputable commercial law firm.
You will be someone who:
- Has strong technical expertise across a broad range of Corporate & Commercial matters, including experience of transactions and commercial contracts.
- Is confident managing your own caseload, while also contributing effectively to wider team matters.
- Has excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice.
- Has a strong level of commercial awareness and a genuine interest in understanding clients' businesses, sectors and strategic objectives.
- Can build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues and professional contacts.
- Takes a proactive, collaborative approach, with a willingness to contribute to team success and business development activities.
- Is committed to delivering high-quality work and excellent client service in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- Has the drive and ambition to continue developing your skills and progressing your career within a supportive and growing team.
