Location – London, onsite 2 days per week
Job purpose:
CLS is seeking a technically focused Cyber Security Analyst to support end-to-end investigation and response for security events escalated by the SOC and other internal security teams. The role will perform analysis, evidence gathering, case documentation and response activity across the incident lifecycle, helping ensure security incidents are investigated consistently, contained effectively and recorded to the required operational standard.
Core responsibilities:
- Incident investigation: Investigate escalated SOC and information security events from initial triage through analysis, containment support, eradication, recovery and closure.
- Technical analysis: Review alerts, logs, endpoint data, user activity, network indicators and other evidence sources to determine scope, impact and likely root cause.
- Case management: Maintain clear, accurate and timely investigation notes, timelines, evidence records and response actions in the incident management platform.
- Containment and remediation support: Work with SOC, infrastructure, application and security tooling teams to support agreed containment, eradication and recovery actions.
- Playbook execution: Follow incident response procedures and scenario playbooks, escalating gaps, exceptions or improvement opportunities to the Incident Response lead.
- Reporting support: Contribute to incident summaries, lessons learned material, root cause analysis and management reporting by providing accurate technical findings and evidence.
- Operational readiness: Support tabletop exercises, control validation and continuous improvement activity by providing analyst-level input and observations from real investigations.

Experience:
- 2-4 years cyber security analyst experience, preferably in SOC, incident response, security operations or a similar technical security role.
- Hands-on experience investigating alerts using SIEM, EDR, endpoint telemetry, email security, identity or network security tools.
- Good understanding of common attacker techniques, malware behaviour, phishing, account compromise, data loss indicators and endpoint investigation methods.
- Experience documenting security investigations, maintaining incident timelines and recording evidence to a clear operational standard.
- Awareness of incident response frameworks such as NIST SP 800-61, the cyber kill chain or MITRE ATT&CK.
- Financial services, regulated environment or critical infrastructure experience is desirable but not essential.
Qualifications/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant security certification or working towards one, such as Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GCFE, GCFA or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of log analysis, endpoint investigation, incident management and security monitoring tools.
