The Opportunity
We’re looking for a talented and ambitious solicitor to join our Director Services team. This is a unique opportunity to work on high-value, complex cases involving HNWIs, SMEs, and private individuals. You’ll be at the forefront of defending directors in insolvency claims, disqualification proceedings, and other strategic legal challenges.
There may be an opportunity to become involved in business/shareholder disputes, which can overlap with these matters comprising pre-action negotiations through to both claimant and defendant just and equitable winding-up, unfair prejudice claims, derivative claims and applications for remedies under the Companies Act 2006.

The team is looking for someone to support the partner and assist with the supervision of less experienced solicitors and as required, paralegal/administrative members of FWJ.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Experienced in commercial and insolvency litigation, especially defending directors and individuals (or keen to become involved in such work).
- Skilled in handling personal insolvency matters, commercial litigation and it would be useful for some experience in director disqualification or shareholder disputes.
- Commercially minded – not just technically strong, but able to offer strategic, value-added advice in line with FWJ’s ‘Solutions Led’ approach.
- A confident communicator who enjoys direct client interaction and will assist in directly driving work into this team.
- Someone who is keen to develop in terms of supporting the partner, managing junior lawyers, managing the day-to-day running and allocation of roles on cases and stepping in for the partner as required.
- Technically adept with a genuine wide interest in the law and alternate strategic solutions to assist the client with difficult legal claims – a key requirement for defendant work.
- A team player with humility, energy, and a growth mindset.
Key Skills & Experience
You’ll ideally bring:
- Strong knowledge of personal and corporate insolvency procedures.
- Commercial Litigation expertise: case management, drafting witness statements, interim applications, disclosure, mediation, and trial preparation.
- Experience with freezing orders, misfeasance claims, TUV/preference claims, s.423 actions, and fiduciary duty/section 212 claims and/or defences.
- Familiarity with winding-up petitions, voluntary liquidations, administration appointments (in and out of Court) and associated proceedings such as private examinations, validation/section 127 applications and regulatory applications.
- An understanding of alternative fee arrangements (CFAs, DBAs, ATE insurance and litigation funding) would be of assistance.
