Role: Senior Associate

The Team

Clyde & Co's Employment team provides support to clients on all aspects of employment law including:

  • Litigation relating to discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair dismissal, unlawful deduction of wages, and other claims in the employment tribunal and relating to breach of contract and business protection claims in the High Court
  • Advising corporate clients on all day-to-day people-related issues including preparing contracts and policies, disciplinary, grievance, and capability issues, large-scale restructuring projects, and service provision changes involving TUPE
  • Advising businesses and individuals on the employment aspects of corporate transactions
  • Cross-border work involving sourcing and coordinating international advice from around the globe and cross-border transactions.

Clyde & Co currently supports a variety of high-profile clients across varying sectors including insurance, financial services, professional services, projects and construction, transportation, aviation, marine, retail, education, and energy.

The Role

We are seeking a proactive and ambitious Employment Associate to join our dynamic team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is eager to develop their legal skills across the full spectrum of employment law, while also playing a key role in business development and client relationship management.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about generating leads and contributing to the growth of the practice, while gaining experience in a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. This includes active involvement in Employment Tribunal litigation, day-to-day advisory work, and providing employment support on corporate transactions.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience managing or assisting with Employment Tribunal litigation, including drafting pleadings, witness statements, and attending hearings.
  • Demonstrable ability to provide commercially focused day-to-day employment law advice to clients on a broad range of issues including disciplinary matters, grievances, redundancy, TUPE, and contract queries.
  • Exposure to employment aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence and drafting employment-related provisions in share purchase agreements and service agreements.
  • Confident in liaising directly with clients, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to client service.
  • Strong legal drafting skills, with experience producing client-facing correspondence, advice notes, and employment contracts/policies.
  • A good understanding of business development, with a willingness to engage in networking, contribute to thought leadership, and help drive growth of the employment practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a busy and varied caseload effectively, balancing litigation and advisory work.
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to support colleagues across the wider employment and commercial teams.
  • Interest in developing expertise in key sectors relevant to the firm (e.g., insurance, healthcare, transport, energy, or infrastructure).
