About the Role
Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace. We bring together leading risk specialists to advance global progress.
We’re looking for a Senior Associate to help us understand and manage financial risk across Lloyd’s. You’ll focus on the capital, investment and liquidity risks affecting both the Corporation and the wider Lloyd’s market. - Challenging how financial risks are managed and recommending improvements.
- Providing risk insight and formal opinions on strategic finance initiatives.
- Supporting a risk-based approach to syndicate oversight.
- Monitoring emerging risks and leading focused thematic reviews.
- Supporting the validation of Lloyd’s Internal Model, including its Investment Risk Model and Economic Scenario Generator.
- Improving the processes, systems and data analytics used by the Risk Management team.
- Contributing to the ORSA, stress and scenario testing, regulatory submissions and risk reporting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Experience applying risk management frameworks and methodologies.
- A good understanding of financial markets and the role of different asset classes in insurers’ portfolios.

- The confidence to influence senior stakeholders in formal and informal settings.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of Solvency II or Solvency UK, insurance liabilities and the Lloyd’s market would be valuable. Experience in risk or capital modelling, including Economic Scenario Generators, would also be beneficial. A relevant professional qualification, such as actuarial qualification or the CFA Charter, would be advantageous. But we’re equally interested in the expertise, judgement and perspective you can bring.
