The Investment Stewardship Group

Dimensional’s global investment stewardship activities are managed by the Investment Stewardship Group, which sits within Dimensional’s Portfolio Management department. The Group implements proxy voting policies, engages with portfolio companies, researches governance issues and industry trends, and communicates Dimensional’s approach to investment stewardship to internal and external audiences. The team works closely with multiple stakeholders including portfolio managers, Legal, Compliance, Investment Engineering, Investment Solutions, Marketing, and the Global Client Group, to ensure best practice is maintained and our clients’ objectives are met.

The Opportunity

The Senior Associate, Investment Stewardship responsibilities include oversight of the corporate governance practices of Dimensional’s portfolio companies, which includes proxy voting at shareholder meetings and engaging with company boards, management, activist investors, or other stakeholders as necessary. The Senior Associate, Investment Stewardship, working with team members based in Dimensional’s US and Sydney offices, will be responsible for delivering reporting on Dimensional’s stewardship activities to internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Associate, Investment Stewardship is based in our London office and reports to the Head of Investment Stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify meaningful portfolio company engagement opportunities, participate in engagements, and track outcomes.
  • Assist with preparation of responses to internal and external requests relating to investment stewardship policies and procedures, including RFPs, and questions from consultants and clients.
  • Vote proxies in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Identify and research key corporate governance issues and trends within the industry.
  • Monitor regulatory developments for potential impact on Dimensional.
  • Prepare reports and materials for key internal stakeholders, such as the Investment Stewardship Committee.
  • Identify opportunities for the improvement in the efficiency and reliability of the group’s procedures and operations, including through automation and systemization.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
  • Experience of mutual funds or investment industry experience.
  • Experience in investment stewardship, portfolio company analysis, and proxy voting mechanics.
  • Ability to manage high-profile engagements with senior executives and board members.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality reports for internal and external distribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile, manage, and interpret data as well as perform in-depth research and analysis.
  • Experience working asynchronously with a global team strongly preferred.
