EMG Solicitors is an award-winning Legal 500 law firm with offices across the UK, specialising in Court of Protection, Deputyships, Education Law, Family Law and Mediation, Mental Health Law, Residential Conveyancing and Wills, Trusts & Probate services.

What are we looking for?

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Associate to join our Wills, Trusts and Probate department.

Where will you be based?

This role can be based from our Tunbridge Wells office, but we may expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.

How many hours will you be working?

This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitor we work flexibly, it’s not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.

A brief overview of the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced private client Solicitor who is confident managing a varied and complex caseload and is looking to play an important part in the continued development and growth of the team.

What will we expect from you:

  • Managing your own varied caseload of Wills, Probate, and Trust matters from instruction through to completion.
  • Advising clients on all aspects of wills, probate, and trusts.
  • Drafting and advising on a range of Wills, including more complex arrangements.
  • Managing the administration of high-value and complex estates.
  • Providing advice on inheritance tax planning.
  • Advising clients on lifetime gifting and the potential implications of death, divorce and bankruptcy.
  • Advising on the creation, operation and administration of trusts.
  • Supporting colleagues with complex or technically challenging matters where required.
  • Providing technical guidance and supervision to junior colleagues and supporting their ongoing professional development.
  • Reviewing and signing off work where appropriate and in accordance with the firm's procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date files and ensuring clients are kept informed about the progress of their matters.
  • Working collaboratively across the team and wider firm to deliver an outstanding service to our clients.
  • Supporting the team's business development activities and helping to identify opportunities to develop existing and new client relationships.
  • Contributing to the continued growth and development of the Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts team.
  • Undertaking other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.

To be able to perform this job you will need:

  • Is a qualified Solicitor, with significant post-qualification experience in Wills, Probate, Tax and Trusts.
  • Has strong technical knowledge and experience across a broad range of private client matters.
  • Has experience managing complex and high-value estate administration.
  • Can confidently manage their own caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates excellent client care skills and communicates clearly and sensitively with clients.
  • Has strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Is comfortable providing technical guidance, support and supervision to more junior colleagues.
  • Takes a proactive and commercially aware approach to their work.
  • Enjoys developing strong relationships with clients, colleagues and professional contacts.
  • Has an interest in business development and contributing to the ongoing growth of the team.
  • Is collaborative, approachable and committed to supporting colleagues across the firm.
