Senior Associate - Property Litigation
We have a new vacancy for a Senior Associate within our Property Litigation team, which is a friendly, growing and exciting team which benefits from a steady supply of high-quality litigation from ARAG Legal Expenses Insurance Group.
An experienced litigator you will have extensive knowledge and expertise in all aspects of property litigation from inception to trial in addition to resolving cases by mediation and other forms of alternative dispute’s resolution. Expertise in handling a caseload of damage, nuisance and trespass disputes is essential, as is experience in claims involving easements and interference with rights of way.
You will be responsible for running an autonomous caseload and for the supervision of more junior members of the team, working closely with other Senior Associates and Principal Associate, ensuring our customers receive the highest standard of services whilst ensuring the efficient management of caseloads.
You will be able to demonstrate deep knowledge of property law and sound commercial awareness of efficient case management.

You will be responsible for ensuring that legal work is supervised in accordance with the ARAG Law Supervision Policy at all times, whilst running a caseload which could include litigated and complex legal matters. As such, it is desirable that you have the right to conduct litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of complex cases in line with expectations ensuring disputes are resolved in a commercial manner via courts, mediation or ADR techniques.
- Work closely with our People and Performance function and Principal Associate to deliver on SLA’s, KPI’s, financial and performance targets as set by the Head of Department to drive efficiency, performance, billing and throughput within the team.
- Ensure the early assessment of the prospects of success of each claim and that the claim is handled throughout in accordance with the requirements of our client’s legal expenses insurance policy.
- Ensure cases are managed in a cost-effective manner by always maintaining a grip on costs.
- Drive a culture of effective and efficient case handling, whilst maintaining a focus on the good customer outcome for each individual client.

What We Need from You
- Excellent technical knowledge of the applicable legal claims and case management requirements in relation to these matters.
- High levels of technical ability and procedural matters in chosen field with experience in ADR.
- Experience of providing technical legal supervision to fee-earners of all levels and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
- A clear and demonstrable understanding of the CPR and costs insofar as they relate to the area of work in which you have technical responsibility.
- A clear and demonstrable understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct.
- Experience of handling a caseload of complex matters relating to the area in which you specialise in line with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of using and developing Management Information for the purpose of managing performance.
