Job Description

Join the dual-series software team supporting McLaren’s Hypercar and IndyCar teams. You will help develop and support high-quality, bespoke software tools that enable our engineering teams to analyse data, improve performance and deliver results on track.

This is an opportunity to contribute to two events within the Triple Crown of Motorsport: the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race and the 24 Heures du Mans. You will work within a close-knit team where everyone takes accountability, continuously improves and plays a vital role in our on-track success.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the development of bespoke software solutions used to analyse data, improve performance and deliver results on track.
  • Work across multiple projects involving a wide range of programming languages, technologies and data formats.
  • Participate in the complete software lifecycle, including requirements analysis, specification, architecture and design, development, deployment, maintenance and support.
  • Support the software and tools produced by the team, collaborating daily with engineers across the IndyCar and Hypercar engineering organisations.
  • Respond to support queries and alerts, check monitoring and systems, and help maintain the smooth day-to-day operation of the team.
  • Contribute to stand-up, retrospective and planning meetings.
  • Continue developing your professional skills and identify new tools and technologies that could benefit the team.
  • Provide event support across different time zones, including frequent out-of-hours and weekend working.
  • Occasionally provide trackside support and travel internationally.
  • Take on additional responsibilities suited to your skills when required to help the team go racing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
