The opportunity

Cardium Law is a forward-thinking boutique litigation firm based in Central London. We act on complex, high-value commercial disputes.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Associate Solicitor, ideally with 5 years + PQE, to join our busy and expanding disputes practice.

This is an opportunity for a strong commercial litigator who enjoys complex, intellectually challenging work and genuine responsibility. Our caseload is deliberately varied. While professional negligence is an important part of our practice, our work extends across a broad spectrum of commercial disputes, involving complex factual issues, substantial expert evidence and significant financial exposure.

You will take ownership of matters, working closely with our directors, clients, leading counsel and specialist experts.

The work

Our disputes practice encompasses a broad range of complex litigation, including:

  • Professional negligence and professional indemnity disputes
  • Contractual and wider commercial disputes
  • Shareholder, director and corporate disputes
  • Fraud, asset recovery and contentious insolvency matters
  • Property and construction-related disputes
  • Multiparty and high value litigation
  • Urgent and interim applications
  • Claims involving substantial financial, evaluation accounting construction and other expert evidence

You will be involved across the lifecycle of disputes, from early strategic advice and pre action work through to pleadings, disclosure, witness evidence, expert evidence, applications, mediation and trial. We are particularly interested in lawyers who enjoy getting to grips with the details of a case, identifying the issues that matter and developing a clear litigation strategy around them.

The role

  • Run a varied caseload of complex commercial disputes with a high degree of autonomy
  • Take responsibility for litigation strategy, case management and client relationships
  • Draft and review high-quality pleadings, witness statements, applications, advices and substantive correspondence
  • Work closely with counsel and expert witnesses, including on matters involving complex technical or financial evidence
  • Conduct and manage High Court litigation from the pre-action stage through to resolution or trial
  • Advise clients pragmatically on risk, strategy and commercial outcomes
  • Support and develop more junior members of the team, including associates, trainees and paralegals
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the firm’s disputes practice

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you

We are looking for a solicitor with 5+ years’ PQE. You will ideally have:

  • Strong experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution
  • A proven ability to run complex litigation with appropriate autonomy
  • Significant experience of High Court litigation from pre-action through to trial or other resolution
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and case management skills
  • The ability to understand complex factual and technical issues and turn them into a clear litigation strategy
  • Experience of working effectively with counsel, experts and other professional advisers
  • Strong client facing skills and sound commercial judgment
  • The ability to take ownership of matters while working collaboratively within a wider team
  • Experience of supporting and developing less experienced lawyers
  • A genuine interest in working across a broad range of disputes rather than being confined to a single specialist area

Professional negligence experience would be particularly valuable, but we are not looking for a narrowly defined professional negligence lawyer. We are looking for a strong commercial litigator whose experience and judgment can translate across a varied and sophisticated disputes practice.

Cardium is a growing litigation practice with an ambitious outlook and a deliberately modern approach to legal practice. We offer the quality and complexity of work you would expect from a City disputes practice, combined with the opportunity to have real responsibility, visibility and influence within a growing specialist firm.
