Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Associate or Vice President to join our Residential / Living Asset Management team based in London. This individual will be responsible for driving value creation, operational performance, and disciplined execution across Ares’ Residential and Living portfolio across EMEA, including multifamily, student housing and other living strategies as applicable.

  • Develop and execute strategic asset management plans for a diverse portfolio of real estate investments across the living sectors in Europe. Focus will be on pan-European operational real estate, including involvement in backed management companies
  • Coordinate debt workstreams, including refinancing of assets and any restructuring
  • Lead conversations with JV partners to drive forward business plans
  • Manage the disposal process, including leading all transaction execution workstreams
  • Monitor and evaluate property performance, and market trends to identify opportunities for value enhancement and cash flow optimisation.
  • Active review of any property management agreements / lease agreements / franchise contracts to ensure optimal strategy for assets / portfolios
  • Implement and oversee property-level business plans including capital expenditure programs and operational strategies to maximize asset value and investor returns.
  • Oversee quarterly business plan and valuation updates
  • Assist in driving the multifamily asset management strategy across the business
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including acquisitions, finance, legal and investor relations

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in real estate / finance from a private equity, investment management background
  • Experience working in operational real estate asset classes
  • Experience working on bank refinancings and debt restructurings
  • Outstanding academic record from a top-tier university with a minimum 2:1 (or equivalent)
  • Analytical and technical-minded, able to conduct operational analysis, with strong financial modelling skills required
  • Hands-on, with the ability to be effective in a small and nimble team
  • Excellent attention to detail
