Nottingham | Mid-Tier Accountancy Firm
I'm working with a well-established and growing mid-tier accountancy firm in Nottingham that is looking to add an Audit Senior to its team.
This is a great opportunity for an ACA/ACCA part-qualified or newly qualified accountant with audit experience who is looking for more responsibility, a varied client portfolio, and clear opportunities to progress.
The firm works with a broad range of businesses, from owner-managed companies through to larger organizations with more complex audit requirements.
The Role
As an Audit Senior, you'll take responsibility for running audits from planning through to completion, working closely with the Audit Manager and acting as a key point of contact for clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients during fieldwork
- Identifying key audit risks and ensuring appropriate audit work is planned
- Managing budgets and keeping the Manager updated on progress
- Leading fieldwork teams on larger and more complex audits
- Preparing financial statements and audit documentation
- Discussing audit findings and potential adjustments with clients
- Clearing review points and dealing with follow-up queries through to sign-off
- Reviewing the work of junior team members and providing constructive feedback
- Identifying weaknesses in client systems and controls and making recommendations
- Keeping up to date with relevant technical and accounting developments

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
