Senior Authorised Person (SAP) - 33kV | HV Electrical

Location

South Yorkshire (primarily), with UK-wide travel as required

Role Summary

We are recruiting a hands-on 33kV Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join an established electrical engineering business delivering HV installation, maintenance and refurbishment projects. This role combines SAP responsibilities with active involvement in project delivery, working closely with electrical fitters, cable jointers and commissioning teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out HV switching, isolation and earthing activities up to 33kV.
  • Issue, manage and control electrical safety documentation.
  • Establish safe systems of work and brief site teams.
  • Lead and support electrical fitters, cable jointers and subcontractors.
  • Assist with HV installation, maintenance, inspection and fault-finding activities.
  • Coordinate outages, testing, commissioning and safe return-to-service operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Current or previous SAP authorisation covering 33kV.
  • Practical experience in HV electrical installation, maintenance, commissioning or fitting.
  • Strong understanding of HV switchgear, transformers, switching schedules and safety procedures.
  • Experience leading site teams and resolving technical issues.
  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship or relevant electrical qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an HV Electrical Fitter, Site Supervisor or Commissioning Engineer before progressing into SAP duties.
  • Broad exposure to HV infrastructure projects and outage planning.
