132kV Senior Authorised Person – Long Term Contract – Southern England

Monday to Friday – SSEN South

I’m supporting a major contractor delivering a substantial programme of connections, asset replacement, and capital works across the SSEN network.

The Role Will Involve:

  • Acting as a Senior Authorised Person on a live DNO network.
  • Planning and coordinating 33kV and 132kV outages.
  • Carrying out switching, isolation, and restoration activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining Safety from the System.
  • Preparing, issuing, and cancelling safety documentation.
  • Supporting pressure testing, commissioning, and Sanction for Test activities.
  • Providing operational and technical guidance to site delivery teams.
  • Supporting transformer, switchgear, GIS, cable, and overhead line projects.
  • Reviewing switching schedules, RAMS, and project documentation.
  • Liaising with Network Control, project teams, and commissioning engineers.
  • Supporting occasional overnight switching and weekend outages.

Experience Required:

  • Current or previous UK DNO Senior Authorised Person experience at 132kV.
  • Strong operational experience across substations, cables, or overhead line projects.
  • Experience preparing and managing HV safety documentation.
  • A strong understanding of outage planning, switching, and Safety from the System.
  • SSEN authorisations are highly desirable.
  • Sanction for Test or pressure testing competency would be particularly advantageous.
  • Candidates without full SFT may still be considered where their wider experience is suitable.
  • Willingness to travel across the project region.

Contract Details:

  • Minimum 12 month contract.
  • Full time, five days per week.
  • Approximately 10 hours per day.
  • Southern England, covering Northwest London and the M4 corridor through to Swindon.
  • Immediate start preferred.
  • Candidates with notice periods of up to three months will be considered.
  • Competitive day rate, dependent on authorisations and competencies.
