Senior Automation Engineer
I am hiring for a Senior Automation Engineer to join an established international automation business. This role is based in South Wales (Newport/Cardiff).
If you enjoy taking projects from initial design through to commissioning—and want to broaden your experience across technologies and industries in a leadership role—this is well worth discussing.
💶 £50K - £70K (Depending on experience)
📍4-5 days per week on customer sites in the Newport/South Wales area.
📝 Full-time, permanent

The role
You’ll help lead automation projects through design, software development, testing and commissioning, working closely with customers and fellow engineers.

Your work will span PLC, DCS, BMS, EPMS, and SCADA systems, with opportunities to get involved in MES and historian platforms.
Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience in industrial automation
- Hands-on PLC/DCS programming and SCADA experience
- Strong problem-solving and customer communication skills
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
- A willingness to travel and deliver projects across the EU
You’ll need a full UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
