About the Role
The Senior AWS Data Engineer (Data Platforms) role focuses on supporting an AWS cloud programme for a leading financial services organisation. The role involves designing and building scalable data pipelines and cloud-native integration solutions. It requires a strong focus on delivery, automation, and knowledge transfer with key skills in IAC Terraform, AWS (Glue, Lambda, EventBridge, S3, RDS) and working in a Regulated Environment (Fintech, PropTech, Insurance, Government, Pharma) etc.
Key Skills & Experience
- AWS: Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, S3, Athena, RDS, CloudWatch
- Python
- IAC Terraform
- CI/CD: (Bitbucket, GitHub Actions, GitLab)
- SQL & Data Modelling ideally with ETL/ELT
- Event-driven architectures: (Kinesis, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)
- EKS / EC2
- Monitoring, support, and platform optimisation

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable AWS-based data pipelines and integration solutions.
- Build robust batch and near real-time ETL/ELT processes to support operational and analytical workloads.
- Develop cloud-native data solutions using AWS services that align with enterprise architecture and business requirements.
- Design and implement event-driven data processing and data integration patterns.
- Develop reusable, efficient, and maintainable Python-based data processing solutions.
- Integrate data across front-office, back-office, and third-party systems using modern integration approaches.
- Optimise data quality, performance, scalability, and reliability across the data platform.
- Work with structured and semi-structured datasets to support reporting, analytics, and downstream applications.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and application teams to design scalable data architectures.
- Support production data services through monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code in Terraform and engineering automation to support efficient delivery.
- Mentor engineers and promote data engineering best practices, documentation, and knowledge sharing
