About Amber Labs
Amber Labs is a fast-growing UK technology consultancy delivering digital transformation across enterprise, government and regulated sectors. We specialise in cloud, data, software engineering, user-centred design and AI, helping organisations deliver better services through modern technology and agile ways of working.
We're currently supporting the delivery of a critical UK Government digital transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Senior AWS Database Administrator (PostgreSQL) to join our growing engineering team.
This role will support the delivery of highly available, secure and resilient cloud database platforms that underpin mission-critical public sector services.
The Role

Working within multidisciplinary agile teams, you'll collaborate closely with architects, software engineers, cloud engineers and operational teams to deliver scalable, cloud-native database solutions. You'll be responsible for driving best practice across database design, performance optimisation, disaster recovery and operational resilience while providing hands-on support for complex production environments.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
