Our client delivers cloud-native software that converts transport and logistics operational data into actionable intelligence for operators and planners. The platform ingests routing, scheduling and telemetry streams and exposes curated datasets and APIs that support planning, tracking and performance measurement across distributed fleets and supply chains.
Job Description
This Senior AWS Data Engineer will own the design and delivery of scalable data products that power analytics, optimisation and operational decisioning during a 12-month fixed-term engagement. The role requires building robust ETL/ELT pipelines, defining data models and implementing automated quality and SLA controls to ensure timely, reliable datasets for cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement end-to-end data pipelines on AWS to ingest, process and store operational datasets.
- Develop and maintain data models, schemas and documentation to support analytics and machine learning use cases.
- Implement data quality frameworks, validation checks and monitoring to meet SLAs.
- Design metadata, lineage and data contract solutions to support governance and discoverability.
- Collaborate with product owners, analysts and engineers to translate requirements into data products.
- Optimise pipeline performance and cost across AWS services.
- Review and mentor engineers on best practices for data engineering and cloud operations.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support production data workflows.

Requirements
- Significant hands-on experience building data pipelines using AWS technologies (e.g., Glue, Lambda, EMR, Redshift, S3, Athena).
- Proven track record designing data models for analytics and ML applications.
- Strong knowledge of data quality, observability and governance patterns.
- Proficiency with SQL, Python and infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform or similar).
- Experience with streaming and batch processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, Spark).
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and influence stakeholders across functions.
- Excellent communication skills with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.

Applicants with relevant experience in transport, logistics or complex operational domains are encouraged to apply. Transferable experience from other sectors such as telecommunications or software platforms will be considered. This role requires eligibility to work in the UK and the ability to attend the Nottingham office as required.
