A leading technology consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Platform Engineer to design, build and manage cloud infrastructure supporting a modern Python-based application estate.

Senior AWS Platform Engineer
AWS Platform Engineering, Kubernetes & DevSecOps
- Location: UK (Remote)
- Contract Type: Outside IR35
- Start Date: November 2026
- Rate: Dependent on Experience
- Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance is required
- Eligibility: Candidates must be based in the UK and hold the right to work in the UK.
This role will focus on delivering secure, scalable and highly automated AWS environments, covering infrastructure provisioning, networking, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD pipelines, identity management, security controls and application integration. The successful candidate will bring strong AWS platform engineering expertise alongside hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, DevSecOps practices and Python.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain AWS environments supporting business-critical applications.
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
- Build, manage and optimise Kubernetes environments for containerised workloads.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Configure and manage AWS services including IAM, IRSA, S3, KMS, Athena, ELB and EC2.
- Design and implement secure AWS networking, including routing, security controls and cross-account connectivity.
- Implement security best practices including least-privilege access, encryption and secure workload configuration.
- Protect data both at rest and in transit through appropriate security mechanisms and key management processes.
- Support integration between application components and ensure secure communication across environments.
- Collaborate with development, architecture and security teams to resolve platform and deployment issues.
- Implement monitoring, logging and operational tooling across cloud environments.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and deployment standards.
- Support technical assurance activities and ensure solutions align with agreed security and architectural requirements.

Qualifications
Extensive experience designing, building and supporting production AWS environments.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience designing, building and supporting production AWS environments.
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise.
- Hands-on Kubernetes and Docker experience within enterprise environments.
- Strong experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- In-depth AWS identity and access management knowledge, including IAM, IRSA and cross-account role configuration.
- Experience working with AWS services such as S3, KMS, Athena, ELB and EC2.
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, including routing, security groups and multi-account environments.
- Experience implementing cloud security controls covering encryption, secrets management, network security and access management.
- Solid understanding of three-tier application architecture and supporting infrastructure.
- Python development or scripting experience, with the ability to support automation and deployment activities.
- Experience supporting application deployment, troubleshooting, monitoring and operational readiness.
- Strong knowledge of Git, DevOps methodologies and automated deployment practices.

Preferred Skills
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Senior AWS Platform Engineer capable of taking ownership of cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, deployment automation and security controls. You will work closely with software engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable and resilient cloud environments while supporting ongoing platform evolution and operational excellence.
