Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior AWS Solutions Architect to help design, evolve and strengthen complex cloud-native platforms operating at scale.
This is a senior technical role for someone who combines deep AWS and Kubernetes expertise with strong customer-facing capabilities. You will work across architecture, cloud infrastructure and production environments, helping identify technical weaknesses, define solutions and drive improvements through to implementation.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable going beyond architectural diagrams. You should be able to understand how systems behave in production, challenge existing approaches, make sound technical decisions and work closely with engineering teams to turn architectural direction into practical solutions.
Just as importantly, you will be comfortable representing technical topics directly with customers. You should be able to understand a problem, articulate it clearly, propose a solution and give stakeholders confidence that you can take ownership of the technical challenge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and evolve scalable, resilient and secure cloud architectures primarily on AWS.
- Provide architectural direction for cloud-native platforms and distributed systems running in production.
- Assess existing environments, identify architectural or operational weaknesses and define pragmatic improvements.
- Design and review Kubernetes-based architectures, including networking, scaling, availability, security and workload management.
- Translate business and customer requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Lead and contribute to technical discussions with customers, including architecture reviews, solution design sessions and complex technical escalations.
- Clearly communicate technical problems, trade-offs, risks and proposed solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work closely with Cloud, Platform, SRE and Software Engineering teams to ensure architectural decisions can be implemented effectively.
- Provide technical guidance during complex production issues and help teams make informed decisions under pressure.
- Define and promote best practices around reliability, scalability, security, observability and cloud operations.
- Contribute to infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code strategies.
- Review existing technical approaches and challenge them constructively when better solutions are available.
- Support engineering teams in moving architectural concepts through implementation and into production.
- Help raise technical standards across the wider engineering organisation through knowledge sharing, mentoring and architectural guidance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
